About Us
Yard Management is a trio based in Santa Cruz, California that blends 60’s era rock and psychedelic styles with funk grooves to create an original, yet nostalgic sound. Influenced by the likes of The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa, Santana and Led Zeppelin, among others, the band combines both older and newer genres to create music that covers a wide array of different moods and feels.
The group--consisting of Casey Rockey (guitarist), Nikola Kavaldjiev (bassist) and Jack Reed (drummer), along with collaborators Nick Carbonell (vocals) and Lilah August (vocals)--met while studying at University of California, Santa Cruz and went on to write and record their debut EP of six songs, Half the Price, Twice as Nice, in early 2019. A major emphasis was placed on being able to record, mix, master, and promote the music themselves rather than through a third party, which meant having to learn how to record and produce music from scratch.
